| Bandwidth Options: Unmetered & Metered Bandwidth |
|
Do you need a bandwidth option with no overage charges? TsunamiNET's Unmetered Bandwidth options help you manage your costs through the predictability of a fixed monthly charge for bandwidth consumption. This option is perfect for those who do not know how much ingress and egress traffic they will have. At the same time TsunamiNET's flexible options will allow you to rapidly scale services to suit the changing dynamics of e-Business and accommodate growth. Unmetered means you can use as much bandwidth/transfer as needed without ever worrying about bandwidth overages or extra charges. We don't monitor or meter your usage so you can use as much as you need. The maximum amount of transfer is limited only by the connection you are signed up for. Metered means we are monitoring your usage and you are responsible for any overages. Unlimited is a common untruth because you are actually limited by your speed that's why we prefer to clarify as Unmetered . As an example, TsunamiNET's 10Mbps Unmetered Connection at full capacity is capable of transferring about 6000GB of data in a month. (10 Mbps) * 2,592,000 seconds = 3,164.0625 Gigabytes. This formula is calculating the maximum amount of data you could transfer in 30 days (2,592,000 seconds) per direction (ingress or egress) using a TsunamiNET dedicated bandwidth connection. TsunamiNET provides its customers with full duplex dedicated connections the theoretical maximum amount of data that could be transferred would be double this or: 3,164 Gigabytes * 2 = 6,328 Gigabytes of transfer. NOTE: Each packet sent has information about itself stored along with your data, generally referred to as overhead so the maximum amount of actual data you are able to transfer will be the total amount capable minus the overhead. All TsunamiNET bandwidth options utilize multi-homed, full duplex connections to multiple Tier One providers. At TsunamiNET all Internet connections are "dedicated" not shared. There is no over allocation of customer service switches in our network. Each customer receives their bandwidth as allotted regardless of what bandwidth other customers use. For more information about any of the following options please speak to one of our sales representatives Most of TsunamiNET's new servers (US) come standard with the 10Mbps dedicated Unmetered Bandwidth connection where the ZA servers come with 2Mbps Unmetered Bandwidth. Why then should a choose a South African server if the USA bandwidth is more and cheaper ? Simple, if the majority of your traffic is South African (or SADC) choose the ZA option, as the latency will be less (faster). If the Majority of your traffic is international choose the US option. Another note for RSA ADSL users, is that even if your cap is reached you will still have high speed access to the ZA servers (as Local ICASA regulations state that local bandwidth may not be capped on the ADSL service)
